Get Involved In Recycle Week 2017

Recycle Week 2017 is all about recycling, with activities aimed at encouraging people to recycle more. In the last few years’ improvements in the amount the UK recycles have been made. However, around 60% of the waste that ends up in rubbish bins can be recycled, which shows that there is still lots to be done.

Running from the 25th September to the 1st of October the aim of Recycle Week 2017 is to encourage more people to recycle more of their waste.  This year’s theme aims to remind people that it is always worth it to recycle.  Here at Envirowaste we aim to ensure as much of the rubbish we collect is recycled or reused, so this is a campaign that we feel very strongly about.

From simple plastic bottles and packaging through to fridge freezers and televisions you will be amazed at the broad variety of products that can be effectively recycled.  Recycling and reusing items is a fundamental principle of the circular economy.  This is an idea that has been around for a while and it is all about creating a regenerative system for society that aims to stimulate growth without the need for new resources. This is a concept we support and believe that it could lead to many different benefits for society.

Competition

In honour of Recycle Week 2017 we’ve teamed up with REC Productions to run a competition for our customers.  REC Productions sell a variety of pre-loved items on their EBay store. From computers and hi-fi right through to bicycles and collectibles, they sell a huge range of products that you’re sure to love. They do this in order to extend the lifetime of that product and reduce the amount of waste ending up in landfill.

We are giving you the chance to win a £100 gift voucher to spend on anything you like on the REC Productions EBay Store. In order to be in with a chance of winning all you need to do is share the most interesting recycling process you can think of. Let us know the material and what it can be recycled into. For example, cooking oil can be recycle into biofuel. Simply submit an image or a link of your chosen item on our Facebook page.  We will select the winner after Recycle Week 2017 and they will be notified through Facebook.

Make sure you get your competition entries in before Recycle Week 2017 ends on October 1st, we cannot wait to see what ideas you come up with!
